Online Meeting Hacks
Whether you love ‘em or you hate ‘em – online meetings are here to stay. So learn how to rock them with these tips.
1. Break-out Sessions
You probably know this from experience: Small groups get work done. When you’re one of 20 participants, it’s easier to lose track of the conversation since you are not actively contributing the whole time. In a small working group of three or four, you can cover more ground. So why not integrate a break-out session in your meeting or workshop?
How to:
Provide clear instructions for the group work on your miro board:
What questions will be worked on during the break-out sessions?
What should the documentation look like?
Use the timer in miro so that everyone knows when to be back in the main call.
2. Use Profile Pictures!
You cannot focus on the video call AND the miro board you work on at the same time. Still, it’s helpful to see who is on the board with you – for getting things done as well as feeling connected.
An easy way to solve this is to insert the profile pictures of the meeting’s participants to in the miro board
There are lots of ways to use them, for example
for a round of introductions,
a check-in,
to drag and drop them to show which small working group you will participate in.
How to:
Look up the participants in your communication tool or intranet solution and save their profile pictures.
Change the file name to the persons name.
Thus, if you click on the photo in miro, it shows the name of the person. In case you’re having a hard time memorizing all those names from the round of introductions :)
Bonus: For a recurring meeting, you only need to do this preparation work once, if you work on the same
